House of Fraser has just opened its first-ever bricks-and-mortar store in China.
The retailer, which is owned by Chinese conglomerate Sanpower Group, has opened in Sanpower Plaza in the commercial zone of Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu province with a population of 7.2 million.
The store spans six floors with 425,000 sq ft of retail spaceand will introduce brands such as Peter Werth, D.A.T.E, Le Tanneur, Cambridge Satchel Company, Biba Alexandre of England, Lyle & Scott, and Radley into the Chinese market for the first time.
The store will also see the launch of completely new concepts to House of Fraser, including “Style by HoF”, as well as Monceau, a restaurant and café.
Fellow UK retailer, Hamleys, is also located opposite the store.
The chain will look to benefit from the strong demand for UK brands among Chinese consumers.
Chairman Frank Slevin said: "The opening of the store in Nanjing is a strong way to finish 2016. The store has focused on bringing international brands and a premium shopping experience to China,” Slevin said.
"We are confident that our first store will clearly demonstrate the unique status that House of Fraser can achieve in the market, and will be a standout platform for our brand partners."
