It has been revealed that Hotel Chocolat is preparing for its most lucrative Christmas to date.

Figures show that sales increased 12% to £91.1 million in the year to 26th June, with pre-tax profits almost tripling.

Commenting, the company said: "We see an increasing trend that consumers want uncompromisingly delicious and hedonistic chocolate that's also made with responsible amounts of sugar."

Helping enhance the retailer’s sales was its “Better Than Socks” Father’s Day campaign, which has prompted the launch of its new website next year which will support its 81 international stores.

Angus Thirlwell, co-found and chief executive, said: "Our plans for the peak winter season are well set and I am confident that our Christmas ranges will be our best ever, as customers continue to appreciate our 'more cocoa, less sugar' approach throughout all our categories."
