Homebase is creating 300 jobs for young people across the UK as part of the government’s Kickstart Scheme.
The scheme aims to give 16 to 24 year olds the chance to learn new skills, gain work experience and build confidence.
With recruits joining the scheme both this month and next, Homebase said there will be at least two roles up for grabs at 83 of its stores in either click & collect or multichannel service support teams.
Skills that the young people will learn will range from stock management, digital sales, customer relationship management and health and safety processes to problem solving, organisation and teamwork.
Neil Hill, head of people and leadership at Homebase, said: “I’m really excited that Homebase is joining the Kickstart Scheme to help the next generation grow. We’re committed to giving back to the local communities that we live and work in and we’re looking forward to welcoming our new team members. I actually entered the workplace myself through a government funded scheme and I honestly don’t think I would be in this job today if it wasn’t for that opportunity, so this feels special on a personal level, too.”
Homebase’s new team members will also receive support from The Prince’s Trust via the charity’s network of youth support workers, partners and mentors.
