High street entertainment retailer HMV have come back to overtake Amazon as the largest seller of physical music.
According to data by Kantar Worldpanel, HMV’s market share grew for a second consecutive quarter in the 12 weeks up to 23rd September, to a total of 28%.
The release of Mama Mia 2 and popular compilation album Now That’s What I Call Music 100 helped boost sales in this period.
Amazon still holds the biggest percentage of the total entertainment sector, increasing to 23.2%, which is five percentage points higher than its closest competitor.
