Figures also revealed however, that retail parks saw a 3.6% increase and shopping centres enjoyed a 1.8% rise over the same period.

Despite a 5.1% year-on-year rise last Tuesday, footfall was still down overall even with shoppers returning unwanted gifts over the long weekend known as ‘Take Back Tuesday’, however on the Saturday the high street was busy as footfall rose 9.7%, beating the figures for retail parks and shopping centres which were 0.3% and 4.8% respectively.
