Helen Dickinson, chief executive of the British Retail Consortium attended an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Friday to collect an OBE for services to the retail industry.
Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, presented the award, which is in recognition of Ms Dickinson’s “advocacy of retail and positive contribution to the industry and the customers it serves”.
Ms Dickinson is also chair for Working Chance, a charity which helps women offenders find rewarding, quality employment and has a passion for the development of the retail industry's female talent and is a Judge of the Everywoman Retail Ambassadors Programme.
Helen Dickinson said: "It was an amazing experience visiting the Palace and to be surrounded by so many inspiring people. I am proud to be part of a world leading retail industry and while the award is a great honour for me personally; it is as much for retailers who are facing the challenges of an industry going through extraordinary change, as it is for me."
