Supermarket price wars have driven grocery prices down once again in May, according to research from mysupermarket.co.uk.

The site’s monthly Groceries Tracker for last month showed that the cost of a basket of 35 popular products dropped in price to £82.59, with some items seeing a fall I price of up to 25%.
Broccoli was 25.71% less compared to May 2015, while the prices of onions and fresh peppers were down 24% and 15% respectively.

MySupermarket managing director Kim Ludlow said: “We’re noticing a trend in total basket price dropping – yes, that’s a fact. However, many products are fluctuating month to month and it’s in shoppers’ best interests to be across how their favourites are faring.

“Whilst you might select a retailer because its broccoli prices are lower than last year, if you look carefully you do notice that they are in fact more expensive than last month.”
MySupermarket’s Groceries Tracker monitors the cost of the same 35 most commonly bought grocery products on a monthly basis.
