Discount supermarket chains Aldi and Lidl continued their recent positive sales figures in the wake of continually rising grocery inflation. In the 12 weeks to May 21st Aldi saw its sales rise by 19.8% whilst Lidl rose by 18.3%, leading to the two supermarkets now holding a record 12% combined share of the market. Inflation of grocery prices increased by 2.9% year-on-year, signifying an increase from the 2.6% in the previous period.
