Greggs, the British Bakers, today reported growth of 6.4% in sales in the fourth quarter, taking the company’s like-for-like sales growth for 2016 up to 4.2%. That shows an improvement on the 2.8% growth they had in the third quarter. Some of the success was attributed to increases in popularity of items such as the Festive Bake and mince pies. However, the company warned that they face uncertainty in the coming year with regards to trading, due to rising pressure on income growth. Greggs also suggested that there would be coming industry-wide, cost pressures which may have a short term impact on profit margins.
