It has been reported that sports retailer JD Sports has purchased Go Outdoors for £112.3 million.
JD Sports acquired the retailers’ 58 stores in the UK from private equity owners 3i Group and YFM Equity Partners. Founders of the company John Graham and Paul Caplan will leave the business.
Figures show that last year profit hit £4.9 million and total revenue reached £202.2 million, the company will be added to JD Sports Fashion PLC’s list of outdoor companies such as Millets and Blacks, as well as fashion retailers like Size?
Peter Cowgill, JD Sports chief executive, said: "Go Outdoors is a great addition to our existing Outdoor business.
"The minimal overlap in store locations and their out-of-town, one-stop retailer approach complements the work we have done on the high street with Blacks and Millets and further strengthens our offering in the Outdoor sector. I am excited by the future prospects this holds for the JD Group.
JD Sports, who are continuing its international expansion plans, announced record half year results as it pushes further into Europe and Australia. Having recently purchased Australia’s Next Athleisure which is has stated provides "the platform to open JD in Australia".
