Health and beauty retailer Superdrug has reported an increase in its full year operating profit of 62.4% to £62.2 million with strong sales in makeup and fragrances.
Figures show that revenue grew 5.4% which was driven by a 6.6% rise in like-for-like sales, an uplift from the previous year of 4.7%.
With continued growth in over 200 stores which includes nail treatments, eyebrow shaping and a sparkly lip treatment, the retailer also offers services such as nurse clinics in 24 stores and travel vaccinations in 41 stores.
Superdrugs online sales saw a rise of over 50% due to the success of its Online Doctor service which delivers products to nearby stores or direct to a customer’s door.
Chief executive of A.S. Watson Health & Beauty UK, Peter Macnab, said: "We have had a strong year and are pleased with the company's performance. We believe the service offered in our stores is key, whether it's our experts offering beauty and health services, or advice given about the latest products.
"Looking to the future our strategy remains to offer customers everyday accessible health and beauty, giving them the products they are looking for at great prices, in a vibrant store environment."
With seven stores opening last year, Superdrug continues to invest in its 787 estate including a refurbishment programme to offer new merchandising and display units for shoppers.
