The first of the Bunnings warehouses has opened today in St. Albans, ahead of a three to five year rollout throughout the country. The location is 67,000 sq ft and currently has 68 people employed, with plans for a second warehouse to open in the St. Albans area in April. Over 30,000 garden and furniture lines are stocked in the store, which stands at 40% more than the Homebase that had existed in the location previously. Plans have also been announced to invest up to £500m in the warehouse format in the coming years. Managing director, Peter Davis stated that “Our policy is to offer customers the lowest prices, the widest range and best service, and hopefully our first pilot store demonstrates that”.
