According to the Food Standards Agency, around 700,000 eggs in the UK have been implicated in the European egg contamination scandal. Original estimates suggested that only 21,000 eggs had been affected by the scandal, however further tests and inspections have revealed the impact to be much larger. In a statement, the FSA said: "Investigations into the Fipronil incident in Europe continue. We have now established that more eggs from affected farms than previously identified came to the UK.”
