It was widely reported on Friday that Drapers, the fashion trade journal, is to be sold by its owners Ascential.  Widely seen as a heritage brand, Drapers has been trading for over one hundred years.  Prior to online becoming the dominant method of recruitment advertising, Drapers was the dominant force for recruitment adverts the fashion sector.  Like many other companies using print media, this form of advertising has seen a rapid decline in recent years.

Ascential, the business information and events company, is putting up several other titles for sale as it moves to concentrate on its core business”.  Following a sale, the company will be left with only one publishing asset, Retail Week.
