Dr Martens has been revealed as the UK retailer with the most effective Instagram account.  This was found by a study highlighting the importance of the platform in the retail sector.

The study was held by a retail search marketing agency Red Hot Penny and is called the Social Scorecard study.  Its purpose is to rank the UK’s top retailers Instagram accounts and Dr Martens comes out on top.

The study assessed 110 retailers, all with at least 10 physical stores, and based results on their followers per physical locations, average post engagement and engagement rates per channel.

Brands such as Guess, Timberland and Hollister followed closely behind, the use of edgy ‘street style shots’ and the use of user generated content as well as content form their latest collections gave Dr Martens the top spot.

This follows Instagram’s new shopping tab which was added last week, as well as shoppable tags added earlier this year, as the platform is beginning to focus more and more on developing the commerce on the site.
