Co-op has revealed plans to open a new £45 million distribution depot, which would create up to 1,200 jobs in Bedfordshire.
The building will be at Symmetry Park, which is near the A1 at Biggleswade. Work is set to begin at the end of 2019 with an expected opening date of early 2022.
The Co-op’s retail chief executive, Jo Whitfield, said that the launch is all part of the company’s ‘ambitious growth plan’.
She also said: "The new site will extend capacity across our logistics network.
"This will help stores to better serve communities and support our ambitious growth plans across London, the south and south-east."
