Supermarket giant Morrisons have revealed that its chief cheese taster, Russell Haggata has been welcomed into the Guild.
Mr Haggata, who tastes more than 1,800 cheeses every year was just one of a handful of people from around the UK to be awarded the membership of Guild des Fromagers. The Guild, which has just celebrated its 150th anniversary, has members from 33 countries.
The nomination was done and approved after Morrisons collected 22 Gold medals and won Cheddar Cheese Retailer of the Year at the international Cheese Awards in the summer. Mr Haggata handpicked all 22 cheeses.
Based in the Bradford store, Mr Haggata has worked there for five years and the supermarket sells 316 different cheeses which have all been tasted and approved by Haggata himself.
