Chanel has announced the hire of Fiona Pargeter, who will be the company’s first global head of diversity.  Pargeter joined the brand last earlier this month, after holding the same position at Swiss bank, UBS.

This comes after the likes of Gucci and Burberry hired similar positions, and Prada launched a Diversity and Inclusion Advisory council, aiming to ‘amplify colour within the Industry’, in February.

It follows an industry wide move to close the inclusion gap, following several high-profile cases of brands being ‘culturally inappropriate’. An example of this would be when Gucci was accused of portraying blackface on a balaclava polo neck with red lips in its autumn/winter 2018 collection.
