Coffee shop chain Caffe Nero has said that a letter that accuses it of legally avoiding corporation tax is “factually incorrect”. The letter, which was sent to the firm by customer Steve Pottinger, has since gone viral on social media.

A spokeswoman said there were "lots of things" in Mr Pottinger's letter that were incorrect.
Caffe Nero, which has more than 500 UK cafes, made a pre-tax profit of £21.1m in 2013 and paid no corporation tax, but has rejected accusations in the past by saying that tax-deductible interest payments on debt used to buy the business mean it has not been liable for corporation tax.
