Luxury fashion house Burberry announced that in the three months to June 30th, the brand saw a 4% rise in comparable sales. Much of the increase was attributed to strong growth in mainland China, which drove mid single-digit percentage growth in the Asia Pacific region. Online and mobile sales also continued to grow, now accounting for 40% of all sales as the ecommerce market continues to expand. Burberry chief executive, Marco Gobbetti commented that, “We are pleased with our performance in the first quarter, while mindful of the work still to do. This is a time of great change for Burberry and the wider luxury industry.”
