Amazon has extended its Prime Now fast delivery service to Prime members in Liverpool and the surrounding areas including Warrington, Birkenhead and Wigan.

The service, which launched for Prime members in London and Birmingham last year and was extended to Manchester in December, offers one-hour delivery on thousands of everyday essentials.

Liverpool customers can choose delivery within one hour of ordering for £6.99, or free delivery within a choice of two-hour, same-day delivery slots between 8am and midnight, seven days a week.

Jason Weston, director of Prime Now said: “Prime Now is our fastest delivery option ever and we are excited to make it available for customers in Liverpool. Whether it’s essentials like fresh milk, nappies or even a last minute gift, customers love the convenience of delivery straight to their door in less than sixty minutes.”

Amazon has also reported that net sales rose 22% to $35.75 billion in its fourth quarter while profits rose to $482 million from $214 million during the same time in the previous year.

Despite the size of the increase, Amazon’s profits fell short of analysts’ anticipations

Sales for the full year to 31 December 2015 rose by 20% to $107 billion to mark the first time the total exceeded $100 billion.
