"I would say that the key thing is to not be too focused on your title. An operations manager should be spending up to half of their time developing their people. Don’t abandon your team because you’re working in an operational role. It’s also very important to stay on top of your workload, working across the whole store can cause your “to-do” list to build up very quickly. Lastly, ensure you have developed strong relationships with the other senior managers; you’ll be working very closely with them."
