About the role

You’ll play a leading role in shaping our UK Marketing social strategy, creating bold, effective and innovative social media plans that connect with customers and drive real impact.

Working with a wide range of internal teams, agency partners and platform specialists, you’ll bring ideas to life across key channels including Meta, YouTube and TikTok. You’ll be part of a collaborative social team, ensuring campaigns are delivered seamlessly and continuously optimised to deliver the best results.

You’ll also champion content innovation, building strong partnerships with platforms and agencies, and leading our approach to influencer marketing to keep Tesco relevant, distinctive and at the heart of culture.

You will be responsible for

Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead the development of our UK social media strategy across content and paid, working closely with Media, Campaign, Group Communications, and Brand teams across Food, Home and Clothing.
  • Shape and deliver platform-led content innovation plans, building strategic partnerships with Meta, TikTok and YouTube.
  • Represent Social within integrated marketing planning, ensuring social is embedded at the heart of campaigns.
  • Lead our social listening capability and reporting, partnering with Group Communications and Press to turn insight into action.
  • Support and develop the Social & Content team, building capability to deliver best-in-class, customer-first content.

Planning, Optimisation & Measurement

  • Create, manage and continuously optimise the annual social media plan to deliver against business and marketing objectives.
  • Establish clear planning frameworks, including weekly, periodic and annual reviews to drive performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Media and Campaign teams to deliver integrated plans, ensuring clear briefs, appropriate budgets and resources are in place.
  • Set, track and report on social and content KPIs, using data and insight to continuously improve performance.
  • Manage the social and content budget, ensuring effective and efficient investment.
  • Lead and develop a small team, supporting their growth and delivery.

Influencer

  • Lead our influencer strategy in partnership with the Media team, managing our agency partner to deliver impactful campaigns.
  • Plan and optimise our influencer activity to support growth and maximise value.
  • Drive innovation in influencer marketing, keeping Tesco relevant, distinctive and connected to culture.
You will need
  • Experience delivering social media and/or TTL (through-the-line) communication campaigns, with a strong understanding of how to make insight-led decisions.
  • Knowledge of media and communication planning, with the ability to support the development of clear and differentiated brand positioning.
  • Experience planning and managing complex, long-term projects, with strong organisational skills.
  • Confidence working with and managing agency partners to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • A track record of working cross-functionally to build integrated plans across multiple teams.
  • Ability to use data and insight to make recommendations and continuously improve performance.
  • Strong capability in developing engaging, customer-first concepts and content.
  • Experience contributing to consistent and cohesive brand expression across channels.
  • Ability to deliver clear, inspiring briefs and actionable feedback.
  • Understanding of how to build customer loyalty through effective communication.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of impactful omni-channel campaigns.
