Job Description

What you’ll be doing
As a qualified Dispensing Optician, you will be providing a high level of customer care and expert advice to make a real difference to our customers and keep them coming back. You will work in one of our stores, reporting to the Store Manager.

Key responsibilities
• Providing clinical support in store for regulated dispensing
• Inspiring your Optical team by sharing your knowledge to offer the very best service.
• Listening to the needs of customers and offer expertise and advice.
• Helping our customers to choose the correct eyewear and offer guidance to ensure our customers receive the best product suited to their needs.
• Supporting the team to deliver an efficient model day and operational processes to ensure that the business trades legally.
• Providing expert knowledge for patients with more specialist requirements.

What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)
• Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
• Passion for your own learning and development, completing all CPD training as part of the GOC requirement.

We’re looking for a full-time Dispensing Optician to join our friendly and experienced team at Boots Opticians in the heart of Birkenhead Mall. Our bright, modern store was fully refitted in February and has two well-equipped testing rooms, including OCT and phoropters, giving you everything you need to deliver excellent patient care.

This is a full-time role, 5 days per week, including either one fixed weekend day or alternate weekends if you work both Saturday and Sunday. Hours are 9–5 (weekdays) and 10:30–4 (Sundays). Occasional sickness cover may be required.

You’ll be joining a small, friendly team of 9 colleagues, including 2 Optometrists and 2 phoropters-trained staff. The practice serves a mixed patient demographic, with great transport links via bus and train, free Sunday parking, and discounted weekday staff parking at just £2.

Newly qualified Dispensing Opticians are very welcome to apply and will be supported in a fun, team-focused environment.
