Senior Sous Chef - Live in Available.

PublishedPublished: 11/07/2026

The Role

As Senior Sous Chef, you'll be the Head Chef's trusted second-in-command, taking ownership of the day-to-day running of the kitchen and leading from the front during service.

You'll play an integral role in maintaining the exceptional standards The Foundry Bell is known for, while supporting menu delivery, mentoring the brigade, and ensuring every section operates efficiently. You'll confidently oversee service, manage kitchen operations in the Head Chef's absence, and help create a culture built around quality, consistency, and teamwork.

This is an opportunity for a chef who enjoys leading people just as much as creating exceptional food.

Company Description

Lead the kitchen in one of Wokingham's most respected premium pubs

At The Foundry Bell, we're proud to be more than just a local. Recognised as one of Wokingham's favourite dining destinations, we've built our reputation on exceptional hospitality, beautifully crafted seasonal food, and a relaxed yet refined atmosphere that keeps guests coming back.

From leisurely lunches in our elegant dining room to cocktails on the terrace, private celebrations in The Foundry Room, and long summer evenings gathered around the firepits, every detail is designed to create an exceptional guest experience. Our menus celebrate the best of the seasons, combining premium pub classics with bold, contemporary dishes, all prepared using quality ingredients and genuine culinary care.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Sous Chef to become a key leader within the kitchen, working alongside the Head Chef to drive standards, develop the team, and help shape the future of our food offering.

Additional Information

Why join The Foundry Bell?

The Foundry Bell combines the warmth of a neighbourhood pub with the ambition of a premium dining destination. It's a kitchen where quality ingredients, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality are valued every day.

As Senior Sous Chef, you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact—working alongside an experienced Head Chef, helping to shape the kitchen culture, mentoring the next generation of chefs, and continuing your own progression towards a future Head Chef role.

What we offer

Alongside a competitive salary, you'll enjoy:

  • Excellent opportunities for career progression into Head Chef
  • Ongoing leadership development and training
  • The opportunity to work with high-quality, seasonal ingredients
  • A supportive, ambitious kitchen team
  • Employee discounts
  • Pension contribution
  • A premium working environment where quality, teamwork, and development are at the heart of everything we do

If you're an accomplished Sous Chef ready to step into a true leadership role and help drive one of Wokingham's leading food destinations forward, we'd love to hear from you.

Qualifications

What we're looking for

We're searching for an experienced leader who:

  • Has a strong background in fresh food, premium pub, or restaurant kitchens
  • Is passionate about seasonal ingredients and consistently high culinary standards
  • Has proven experience leading and developing kitchen teams
  • Is confident managing busy services and taking responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
  • Has excellent knowledge of stock control, GP, food safety, and kitchen compliance
  • Leads with energy, professionalism, and a genuine passion for developing others
  • Wants to play a key role in the continued success of a thriving food-led business
