Cyber Security Operations and Engineering Manager

PublishedPublished: 06/10/2026

Iceland are looking for an experienced and dynamic Operations and Engineering manager to join our Cyber Security team.

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Cyber Security and will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operational security activities that protect Iceland’s systems and data. This includes managing security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and ensuring operational processes are effective and aligned with best practices.

The role will also involve innovation in engineering new security measures and processes and improving those already in place. We are looking for a person who will drive changes to keep pace with the ever-evolving threat landscape in a manner which is in tune with a fast-paced food retailing business.

This is a senior and hands-on role that requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively across IT and business teams. You will manage a small team of security analysts – so you will need to get involved in the “nuts and bolts” as well as providing leadership and driving development.

If you are looking for a role that will have direct influence on the growth and evolution of Iceland’s Cyber Security function whilst still being able to use your technical skills – then this could be the role for you.

This role is based in our Deeside head office, with a minimum of 2 days per week spent working from the office.

Iceland Foods was the only supermarket to be named in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work in both 2024 and 2025.

Specific skills and capabilities we are looking for:

Essential

  • Proven experience in managing cyber security operations within a complex IT environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Expertise in incident response and vulnerability management processes.
  • Expertise with Microsoft security technologies (Defender, Sentinel, Entra, InTune).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain operational security procedures and documentation.
  • Ability to define and report meaningful security metrics to demonstrate risk reduction and operational performance.
  • Knowledge of threat intelligence and proactive threat hunting.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with cloud security operations (Azure and AWS).
  • Experience working with Akamai, Rubrik, and GitHub Advanced Security.
  • Understanding of compliance requirements and how they apply to operational security.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.

What to expect from us:

  • 15% discount in Iceland stores
  • 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)
  • Free onsite parking
  • Onsite electric car charging ports
  • Subsidised staff restaurant and Costa Coffee
  • Christmas vouchers
  • Refer a Friend Scheme
  • Christmas Savings scheme
  • Discounted dry cleaning
  • Long service awards
