Assistant Manager - Part Time Pro Rata Contract
🍻 What's the opportunity?
The Horseshoe is a busy, wet-led pub where personality, pace and people skills really matter. With a younger crowd bringing plenty of energy on Friday and Saturday nights, we're looking for someone confident, hands-on and comfortable managing a lively atmosphere.
As Assistant Manager, you'll work alongside the team on the pub floor, not from behind an office desk. You'll be visible, approachable and ready to get stuck in — whether that's serving customers, supporting the team during a busy shift or making sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience.
You'll be responsible for:
- Supporting the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the pub and stepping up in their absence.
- Leading from the front, working alongside the team and setting the standard for great service.
- Creating a welcoming atmosphere and building strong relationships with our regulars and local community.
- Managing busy shifts confidently, particularly during lively Friday and Saturday nights.
- Understanding the atmosphere, reading situations and handling challenging moments calmly and professionally.
- Keeping standards high across service, cleanliness, safety and compliance.
- Making the most of live sport, DJ nights and events to drive trade and create memorable experiences.
- Helping organise and deliver community events and charity fundraisers, including our popular Macmillan events.
- Coaching and motivating the team, helping everyone develop and perform at their best.
