Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director of Chanel for the last 30 years, has passed away at the age of 85 in Paris on Tuesday.

Lagerfeld was the most famous living designer on the planet.  He created over a dozen collections per year for three different fashion brands, Chanel, Fendi and his own eponymous brand.

He was also a very talented fashion photographer.  His book The Little Black Jacket went onto become the best selling photo book ever, selling over 250,000 copies.

He was instantly recognisable thanks to his iconic look, his powdered white hair, dark glasses, slim redingotes, tight jeans and Cuban heeled Massaro boots.
