Amazon has opened a till-free convenience store in London’s Ealing today. Called Amazon Fresh, the shop is the online retail giant’s first “just walk out shopping” store outside of the US.
To enter the store, customers use the Amazon app on their phone, then shop for what they need. At the end of their shopping trip, they just walk out without having to stand in a queue or check out.
The shop will offer a selection of food from Amazon’s new private food brand ‘By Amazon’. Products include meat, poultry and fish, dairy, fruit and vegetables, baked items, freshly prepared meals and everyday essentials. There will also be hot food available throughout the day and on-the-go meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Amazon said in a statement: “Amazon Fresh store will offer customers everything they’d want from their local neighbourhood grocery store with an experience that allows shoppers to simply take what they want and just walk out.”
