Job Description

What you’ll be doing

• Providing safe and effective dispensing services within hospital outpatient pharmacy clinics.
• Clinically screening outpatient prescriptions to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and compliance with local and national guidelines.
• Supporting multiple hospital outpatient departments through remote clinical verification
• Working closely with consultants, specialist nurses, pharmacy technicians, and wider multidisciplinary teams across multiple sites
• Identifying and resolving prescribing issues and medicines-related risks.
• Advising patients on their medicines, treatment plans, and ongoing care.
• Contributing to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance activities.
• Maintaining high standards of patient safety and compliance.
Key responsibilities

  • Delivering NHS, locally commissioned, and private services using both in-store and digital tools
  • Leading professional and legal standards for patient safety and pharmacy compliance
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and continually improving standards of care and safety
  • Working with the Store Manager to develop the capability of the wider healthcare team
  • Growing talent that reflects the communities we serve; coaching, mentoring and supporting your colleagues every step of the way.
  • Representing Boots within the local community and with healthcare professionals

What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)

• Is a registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Has post-registration experience in hospital, outpatient, or advanced community pharmacy settings.
• Demonstrates excellent clinical knowledge and decision-making skills.
• Is confident screening prescriptions and managing clinical queries independently.
• Has strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Is comfortable working onsite and using different digital healthcare systems.
• Is committed to delivering outstanding patient care and service improvement.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and patient-focused Pharmacist to join our innovative hospital outpatient pharmacy service.

This is an exciting hybrid role combining face-to-face outpatient dispensing and patient support with remote clinical screening and prescription verification for multiple Boots hospital outpatient departments.

This role offers the opportunity to utilise your clinical expertise across a wide range of specialties while benefiting from the flexibility of a hybrid working model.
