Human Resources / HR
Employee Relations Advisor
London | Retail & Distribution Environment
Are you an experienced people manager looking to build a career in HR, or an established Employee Relations professional seeking your next challenge?
We're working with a successful and growing retail business to recruit an Employee Relations Advisor to support both retail and warehouse operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional, or a Store Manager with strong employee relations experience, who enjoys coaching managers, resolving people issues and driving positive workplace culture.
The Role
Supporting teams across retail stores and a central distribution operation, you'll act as the first point of contact for a wide range of employee relations matters, providing practical, commercial advice and helping managers navigate people challenges confidently and consistently.
Working closely with senior HR leaders, you'll play a key role in maintaining HR processes, supporting recruitment activity, developing policies and improving employee engagement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide first-line advice and support on employee relations matters including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, investigations and performance issues.
• Coach and support managers through formal HR processes, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and company policy.
• Support onboarding, probation reviews and offboarding activities.
• Assist with recruitment activities including advertising vacancies, agency liaison and candidate management.
• Maintain accurate employee records and support HR system administration.
• Manage HR queries and provide timely responses to employees and managers.
• Analyse people data, identifying trends relating to absence, turnover and engagement.
• Support payroll administration and time & attendance processes.
• Assist with policy reviews, HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide administrative and note-taking support for formal meetings when required.
About You
We're particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have:
• Experience in an HR, Employee Relations, People Advisor, Assistant HR Manager or similar role.
• OR retail Store Managers with significant exposure to employee relations and people management.
• Strong experience handling investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, absence management and performance conversations.
• A commercial mindset and the confidence to influence managers at all levels.
• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience working within a fast-paced retail, logistics, hospitality or customer-facing environment.
• CIPD qualification (or working towards) is desirable but not essential.
What's on Offer
• A varied and hands-on role within a growing retail business.
• Exposure to both retail and operational environments.
• Close collaboration with senior HR leadership.
• A supportive team culture where your voice and ideas will be valued.
• Opportunities to contribute to process improvements and wider people initiatives.
• Free onsite parking and additional employee benefits.
This role would suit an experienced Store Manager looking to transition into HR, an HR Advisor seeking broader exposure, or an Employee Relations professional who enjoys a practical, hands-on environment.
