A leading fashion retailer is seeking a Junior Garment Technologist to take a leading role in ensuring exceptional product fit, quality, and technical development across footwear & accessories. In this position, the successful candidate will oversee all garment fit and sealing processes, upholding departmental standards for fit, grading, and construction, and ensuring every product meets quality expectations before moving into production.

You will collaborate closely with design teams to develop detailed product specifications and guide each style through the full development lifecycle, from first fit to final production, while continually identifying opportunities to enhance product quality and maintain cost efficiency. The role also involves managing and evaluating suppliers, negotiating fit and quality requirements, resolving compliance issues, and conducting factory visits in partnership with testing laboratories.

You will be responsibile for reviewing product testing reports, the Garment Technologist will ensure all items comply with legal, packaging, and labelling standards, taking corrective action whenever issues arise. You wil also analyse faulty returns, identify recurring problems, benchmark competitor products, and contribute to the development of technical standards and guidelines for suppliers. Collaboration is central to the role, requiring close partnership with buying, design, merchandising, technical teams, distribution centres, and external suppliers to deliver high‑quality, commercially successful products.

The ideal candidate will bring at least three years of experience in garment technology, technical development, or product quality within a fashion retailer, supplier, or similar apparel environment. You will demonstrate strong knowledge of garment fit, grading, fabric and trim selection, product construction, quality assurance, and compliance. Commercial awareness is essential, including experience in supplier negotiation, risk assessment, and balancing quality with cost targets. They should be confident analysing returns data, identifying trends, and applying strong numerical skills to measurements, grade rules, and performance information. A solid understanding of current fashion trends, competitor standards, and compliance requirements will support informed decision‑making that enhances product quality and customer satisfaction. This role is ideal for a proactive problem‑solver with a passion for delivering outstanding fit and exceptional product standards.

The salary is paying up to £35,000
