Design, Production & Technical

A fashion retailer who has became a staple across highstreets & shopping centres is seeking an experienced Senior Footwear Technologist to lead the technical development, fit, and quality standards across its footwear categories. The successful candidate will take ownership of the full product lifecycle, ensuring every style meets the brand’s expectations for fit, comfort, durability, and construction.

You will manage fit sessions, oversee material and component approvals, and work closely with design and buying teams to translate creative concepts into technically robust, commercially viable products.

In this role, the technologist will be responsible for product testing, compliance, and ensuring all footwear meets legal, safety, packaging, and labelling requirements. You will work directly with suppliers and factories, negotiating technical standards, resolving issues efficiently, and ensuring manufacturing partners have the capability to deliver consistent quality. You will also analyse returns data, identify recurring issues, and drive continuous improvement across the category.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience within footwear technology, with a proven track record of delivering high‑quality, well‑fitting products across multiple seasons. You will demonstrate strong negotiation skills, excellent trend awareness, and a deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and performance requirements specific to footwear. Confidence in managing junior team members and deputising for senior leadership when required is essential.

This role is suited to someone with a stable career history, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to balance creativity with technical precision. The company is looking for a proactive problem‑solver who is passionate about delivering exceptional footwear quality and elevating the customer experience. Candidates who thrive in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment will excel in this position.
