The role

Based in our rapidly growing Regional Service Centre, you will lead our 24/7 transport team to ensure our traffic operation runs smoothly, safely, and cost-effectively. In this pivotal role, you will bridge the gap between compliance and culture—making sure all Road Transport Regulations are strictly met while empowering your team to perform at their best. Working Sunday to Thursday, 08:00–16:30 (with the flexibility required of a key member of our leadership team), you will collaborate closely with the warehouse team and report directly to the Regional Service Centre Manager, making a visible difference by keeping our supply chain moving seamlessly. From day one, NEXT will provide you with the tailored support, operational insights, and leadership training required to confidently take ownership of the site and drive our logistics network forward

What you'll take on

  • Lead a 24/7 traffic operation, ensuring all daily transport and yard activities run smoothly, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
  • Maintain strict compliance with all Road Transport Regulations, proactively safeguarding our 'O' Licence requirements.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a dedicated team of Team Managers, inspiring them to effectively support and guide our large network of drivers.
  • Drive operational performance by monitoring key KPIs, identifying efficiencies, and actively seeking cost-saving opportunities against the budget.
  • Deputise for the Regional Service Centre Manager when required, providing confident cross-functional leadership and support to the wider warehouse team.
  • Navigate challenging situations and complex employment relations calmly, fairly, and with a focus on positive outcomes.

What you'll bring

  • A sharp commercial mindset, helping you stay organised, manage budgets, and make data-driven decisions that improve the operation.
  • An adaptable and collaborative approach, with the confidence to lead by example and manage site-wide responsibilities when stepping up.
