About the role The Sustainability Graduate Programme includes two placements: Stretch Placement: A role outside your academic background that broadens your understanding of the wider business and develops new skills Core Placement: A role aligned to your interests within Sustainability, allowing you to develop specialist knowledge and contribute to key sustainability priorities Each placement is structured around clear objectives and measurable outcomes, giving you the opportunity to make a tangible impact while developing a broad understanding of sustainable business practices. Throughout the programme, you'll gain exposure to a variety of sustainability-focused areas, including: Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action Sustainable Packaging and Waste Reduction Responsible Sourcing and Supply Chain Sustainability Community and Social Impact Programmes Food Waste Reduction Initiatives Sustainable Operations and Resource Efficiency ESG Reporting and Performance Measurement Colleague and Customer Sustainability Engagement You'll work with teams across the business to support sustainability projects, analyse performance data, identify opportunities for improvement, and help deliver initiatives that support Tesco’s long-term sustainability commitments. By the end of the programme, you'll have developed a strong understanding of how sustainability is integrated into a large retail business, how responsible business practices create value for customers and communities, and how you can help deliver positive change that supports Tesco’s purpose of serving our customers, communities, and planet a little better every day. Salary: €35,000 Programme start date: 6 September 2027 What is in it for you From day one, you'll join a team that is focused on driving Tesco’s sustainability ambitions across our business. You'll contribute to projects that support our goals around reducing environmental impact, supporting responsible sourcing, reducing food waste, promoting healthier choices, and creating positive change in the communities we serve. You'll work with colleagues across multiple functions, gaining exposure to how sustainability is embedded into decision-making and helping to deliver initiatives that make a meaningful impact for customers, colleagues, suppliers, and the environment. Annual Leave: Starting at 23 days per annum You will be responsible for Alongside your day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll take part in a structured 18-month development programme that includes: Upskilling workshops focused on sustainability, ESG, project management, and business strategy Personal development sessions to build your confidence, communication, and leadership skills Visits to stores, suppliers, and community initiatives to see sustainability in action Networking opportunities with graduates and leaders across the business Mentoring and coaching from experienced colleagues who are passionate about developing future talent At Tesco, graduates are given meaningful responsibility from the start, supported by a strong network of colleagues who are invested in helping them succeed and grow.
