We’re looking for an experienced, motivated and commercially focused Shop Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day performance of our Greggs franchise shop.

As Shop Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading your team, driving operational standards and delivering strong commercial results. You’ll set the tone for the shop, hold yourself and your team accountable, and ensure that every customer receives fast, friendly and consistently high-quality service.

This is a hands-on management role where you’ll lead from the front, develop your people and make sure standards are not only achieved, but maintained every day.

What you’ll be doing

  • No two days will be the same. You’ll have full responsibility for driving the performance and standards of the shop, including:
  • Lead, manage and motivate the team to deliver excellent customer service, operational performance and commercial results.
  • Set clear expectations and hold colleagues accountable for their performance, behaviour and standards.
  • Drive a high-performance culture, recognising great performance while addressing underperformance quickly and effectively.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating the standards, behaviours and customer service you expect from your team.
  • Take ownership of shop standards, ensuring cleanliness, presentation, food quality, availability and customer service are consistently maintained.
  • Proactively monitor performance and take action to improve sales, service and operational results.
  • Manage labour effectively, ensuring the shop is appropriately staffed while maintaining control of labour costs and productivity.
  • Take responsibility for waste, stock management and stock availability, identifying trends and putting corrective actions in place.
  • Recruit, onboard, train and develop colleagues, ensuring new and existing team members have the skills and confidence to perform at their best.
  • Conduct regular coaching, feedback and performance conversations, supporting colleagues to achieve their potential.
  • Build a strong, engaged team where everyone understands their role and takes pride in their contribution.
  • Maintain full compliance with food safety, health & safety, company procedures and audit requirements.
  • Take ownership of internal and external audit performance, ensuring actions are completed and standards are consistently maintained.
  • Regularly review the shop, identify areas for improvement and drive continuous improvement rather than waiting for issues to arise.
  • Ensure the shop is always clean, well-stocked, organised and welcoming.
  • Roll up your sleeves and get involved in food preparation, serving customers and all areas of shop operation when required.
  • Deal confidently with customer feedback and complaints, resolving issues professionally while protecting the reputation and standards of the business.
  • Communicate effectively with your team and senior management, providing clear updates on performance, opportunities and challenges.
  • Ensure every shift is well planned, organised and set up for success.

What makes a great Shop Manager?

We’re looking for someone who understands that great management is about more than simply running a shift. You’ll be someone who takes ownership, sets high standards and makes things happen.

You will be:

  • A confident and inspiring leader who can motivate, coach and hold people accountable.
  • Commercially aware, with a strong focus on sales, costs, productivity and profitability.
  • Passionate about delivering consistently high standards.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused, with the ability to identify problems and put effective actions in place.
  • Comfortable having difficult conversations and managing performance when required.
  • Organised, reliable and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-focused, with a genuine commitment to delivering an excellent experience.
  • Hands-on and willing to work alongside the team when the business requires it.
  • Passionate about developing people and building a strong team culture.
  • Experienced in retail, hospitality, food service or another fast-paced customer-facing environment.
  • Your role in driving the shop forward

As Shop Manager, the standards start with you.

You’ll be expected to know your shop, understand your numbers, know your team and continually look for ways to improve. You’ll set clear expectations at the start of each shift, follow up throughout the day and make sure actions are completed.

We want a manager who doesn’t simply maintain standards — you drive them.

If you’re ambitious, energetic and commercially minded, enjoy developing people and take pride in running a high-performing shop, we want to hear from you.
