PublishedPublished: 15/09/2026

We're looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure and Cloud Services team based from the NEXT Head Office in Leicestershire!

The Role:

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer in our Infrastructure & Cloud Services Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and continuously improving the core IT platforms that keep NEXT running efficiently.

Based predominantly at our Enderby Head Office in Leicester, you will collaborate closely with wider IT teams to manage everything from Azure administration and Terraform automation to backup technologies and virtualised server estates. You will make a direct impact by keeping our critical systems reliable, secure, and performant, ensuring our colleagues have the reliable tech they need every day.

To help you succeed, NEXT provides full onboarding support, collaborative team knowledge sharing, and continuous opportunities to build your technical capability across cutting edge cloud and operational technologies.

What You’ll Take On:

  • Maintain Platform Reliability: Proactively manage, monitor, and support our core cloud and on-premise infrastructure, including Azure, Windows Server, VMware/Hyper-V, load balancers, and storage, to keep platforms running seamlessly.
  • Deliver Agile Ticket & Change Management: Swiftly resolve incident and request tickets while raising and executing change requests for routine maintenance, software updates, and configuration improvements.
  • Drive Continuous Upgrades & Capacity Planning: Devise maintenance processes, implement vendor recommended software refreshes, create roadmaps for service improvements, and monitor capacity to ensure systems scale smoothly for future growth.
  • Automate Infrastructure: Implement and optimize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Azure DevOps, and PowerShell scripting to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate on Projects & Documentation: Work alongside cross-functional IT teams to deliver new technologies, while maintaining comprehensive, up-to-date system documentation, operational guides, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Shift Rota & Cover: Operate on a structured weekly shift pattern to provide robust operational coverage.
  • Out-of-Hours Support: Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to critical incidents outside standard business hours.
  • Maintenance & Deployments: Perform system upgrades, changes, and installations during scheduled maintenance windows, with overtime provided for out-of-hours work.
  • Peak Period Support: Offer extended support during major business milestones and high-traffic sale events.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven 3rd Line Support Expertise: Strong practical background in managing Azure environments, Windows Server, virtualization, storage technologies (Isilon, Pure), load balancing, and backup/recovery solutions such as Rubrik.
  • Strong Automation & Scripting Skills: Hands-on experience with Terraform, Azure DevOps, PowerShell, and enterprise monitoring tools such as Dynatrace.
  • Exceptional Problem-Solving Abilities: An analytical mindset with a talent for troubleshooting complex technical issues and identifying root causes efficiently.
  • Organised & Prioritised Work Style: Highly organised approach to balancing routine operational tasks, urgent ticket resolution, and long-term project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear Communication & Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to colleagues, collaborate effectively across teams, and document processes thoroughly.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to support out-of-hours maintenance windows and peak business periods as mentioned above.
  • Mobility: A full UK Driving Licence for occasional visits to regional UK sites.

We build on success and learn from every challenge. You will be part of a team that encourages you to own your work, take calculated risks, and help the business grow.

We know everyone is at their best when they are being themselves, so you will find a supportive environment where your unique perspective is valued.

If this sounds like the role for you, we would love to hear from you!
