Pricing at Tesco operates at a scale most analysts never get to touch. As a Senior Data Analyst, you won't just run reports, you'll lead the sophisticated modelling and strategic research that shapes how one of the world's largest retailers prices and promotes across millions of transactions daily.
This is a high-visibility role where your analysis will reach Commercial, Finance, and Leadership teams, and your recommendations will actually move the needle.

You'll take the lead on high-impact strategic projects while also setting the standard for how analytical work gets done, from query efficiency to process documentation to ML model oversight. In practice, that means:
- Leading research and insight across price architecture, promotion optimisation, trade plan analysis, sales forecasting, and market performance.
- Writing and optimising complex SQL queries across large-scale datasets (Teradata, Hadoop).
- Owning ML model monitoring: tracking performance, identifying anomalies, and supporting data scientists with feature optimisation.
- Documenting processes and actively upskilling data users across the business.
- Partnering cross-functionally with Data, Pricing, Trade, Dunnhumby, and Technology teams to ensure commercial strategy is aligned and executed.
- Translating complex technical analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
- Driving standardisation, simplification, and automation across analytical workflows.
- A degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Substantial experience handling large, complex datasets and the SQL fluency to do it efficiently.
- A track record of turning data into commercial recommendations, not just outputs.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills.
- The mindset to improve how things are done, not just deliver what's asked.
- Python proficiency and hands-on experience with visualisation tools like Tableau or PowerBI is useful but not necessary.
