About the role We are on the lookout for a Quality Assurance Partner to join our Product Quality team here at Tesco. This role is ideal for someone passionate about fresh food quality who enjoys hands‑on work across depots, supplier sites, and occasionally in stores.
The role is primarily depot‑based (approximately 60%), with supplier visits (30%) and store checks (10%). Mobility within the region is essential so a UK Driving License and access to a car is essential as being able to get yourself from location to location.   • Annual bonus scheme of up to 10% of base salary

  • Assessing the quality of Tesco products using the correct tools, methods, and product specifications across multiple sites.
  • Applying strong product knowledge to make informed accept / reject / advisory decisions.
  • Conducting supplier visits to complete a variety of checks at different parts of the chain, resolve quality concerns, and verify adherence to agreed specifications.
  • Completing in‑store checks and working with in-store teams to capture and feedback real‑time product performance as well as quality related coaching of store colleagues.
  • Ensuring full compliance with, and contributing to the development of all Product Quality Assurance processes and procedures.
  • Working with suppliers, technical teams, and Quality Assurance colleagues to identify and drive improvements in product quality across the supply chain.
  • Recording, analysing, and presenting product quality data accurately to multiple stakeholders.
  • Supporting new colleagues through sharing knowledge, coaching, and demonstrating great quality assurance practices.
  • Participating in training and team days and completing required assessments to maintain capability, as well as working alongside colleagues in multiple locations.
  • Supporting ad‑hoc testing and wider Quality team initiatives when required, whilst always acting with integrity, following the Tesco Business Code of Conduct and GSCOP.
You will need
  • Assessing the quality, freshness and condition of perishable products, using specifications, visual standards and intrinsic tests to make accurate accept/reject decisions based on quality and food safety.
  • Identifying defects, deterioration patterns and root causes, and spotting trends in product or supplier performance through effective data recording, analysis and reporting.
  • Experience in fast‑paced distribution or fresh food operations, working across multiple sites including depots, suppliers and stores, and adapting to seasonal or supply‑chain variation.
  • Strong cross‑functional working skills, collaborating with suppliers, technical teams and depot colleagues to resolve quality issues and maintain high standards.
  • Supporting colleagues through coaching and knowledge‑sharing, and following food safety processes, SOPs and audit requirements.
  • Able to balance availability and quality objectively while planning and prioritising workload across varied environments.
  • Strong decision‑making, problem‑solving, accuracy and time‑management skills, with the ability to work methodically and independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confident stakeholder engagement at all levels.
  • Good IT capability to manage data and produce clear reports.
  • Flexible and mobile, willing to travel within a region; detailed knowledge of fresh products or the ability to build this quickly.
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a car.
