What you’ll be doing
As an Optometrist at Boots, you’ll play a key role in delivering brilliant patient care – using the latest tech, working alongside experienced colleagues, and supporting your community with clinical excellence. Whether you're leading a clinic, responding to triage, or mentoring others, no two days are the same, and your growth never stops.
Key responsibilities
- Leading clinics and delivering outstanding patient care
- Using the latest testing technology to assess eye health and provide expert advice
- Providing enhanced services, from triage support to advanced assessments, depending on store needs
- Offering clinical support to colleagues on the shop floor
- Collaborating with external healthcare professionals
- Keeping your clinical knowledge up to date and sharing it with others
- Playing a key role in your store’s leadership team, bringing energy and insight to every shift
What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)
- We’re looking for Optometrists who are confident, compassionate, and always focused on doing the right thing for patients.
- GOC registered (or expecting to be within 6 months)
- NHS performer number (or working towards it)
- Excellent communication and organisation skills
- A genuine interest in patient care and team collaboration
It would be great if you also have
- Experience supporting enhanced services
- A strong understanding of local clinical networks

• Services delivered in store: This busy Boots Opticians store delivers exceptional patient care, supported by Optomap technology and a range of enhanced clinical services including MECS, Cataract Post-Op, Cataract Referral, ACES Referral and Glaucoma Services. The store has 3 testing rooms, allowing you to provide a high standard of clinical care within a well-established practice.
• Team structure: You will join a friendly and experienced team of 12 colleagues, including a Resident Optometrist, a Pre-Registration Optometrist and a qualified Dispensing Optician. The team is committed to delivering excellent patient care and creating a supportive environment for both colleagues and patients.
Located in the heart of historic Norwich, this busy free-standing practice offers an exciting opportunity to join a thriving store with a diverse patient demographic. Newly qualified Optometrists are encouraged to apply, and there is potential for future pre-registration supervision opportunities.
Norwich combines the charm of a historic city with excellent amenities, shopping, restaurants and cultural attractions, making it a fantastic place to live and work. The store is well connected by train and bus services, with parking available nearby from approximately £5 per day.
