About the role

As a Maintenance Technician at Tesco covering Shepton Mallet, Yeovil and the surrounding areas, you'll play an important role in creating safe, welcoming and well-maintained environments for our customers and colleagues.

Working as part of a supportive and collaborative team, you'll help keep our stores operating at their best by carrying out a range of planned and reactive maintenance activities. No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to use your problem-solving skills, technical knowledge and practical expertise to make a real difference across our estate.

Your work will have a visible impact on the experience of thousands of customers and colleagues every day. Whether you're resolving issues, supporting store teams or identifying opportunities for improvement, you'll help ensure our stores remain safe, compliant and great places to shop and work.

  • Annual bonus scheme of up to 10% of base salary.

As a Maintenance Technician, you'll work closely with colleagues, contractors and store teams to help maintain high standards across our stores and properties.

You will:

  • Build positive relationships with external contractors and support the coordination of repair and maintenance activities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver excellent service and share knowledge and best practice.
  • Manage a varied workload, balancing planned maintenance with reactive repairs.
  • Support store leadership teams by ensuring equipment and facilities remain safe and operational.
  • Deliver maintenance activities in a way that minimises disruption for customers and colleagues.
  • Ensure Tesco sites remain safe, compliant and welcoming environments.
  • Follow planned work schedules to achieve effective and efficient repairs.
  • Carry out general property and store maintenance activities.
  • Use mobile technology, including phones and tablets, to manage work schedules and record updates.
  • Represent Tesco's values by helping to serve our customers, communities and planet a little better every day.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback through local and national meetings.
  • Champion and support an inclusive culture where everyone feels welcome and valued.
You will need

We're looking for people who take pride in delivering high standards and enjoy solving problems. Whether your experience comes from maintenance, engineering, facilities management, construction or a related environment, we'd love to hear from you.

You'll be comfortable working independently whilst also being part of a supportive team. Most importantly, you'll be committed to providing great service and creating safe environments for customers and colleagues.

Operational skills

  • ONC or equivalent qualification.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety principles.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Digital confidence, including experience using Office 365 and mobile technology.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and technical development
