Hybrid Cleaner & Escort (DV STRAP)
We're currently recruiting for a full-time Hybrid Cleaner & Escort to join our Cleaning & Facilities team within the Defence sector, working 35 hours per week.
This is a varied role combining professional cleaning responsibilities with the escorting of authorised contractors, visitors and personnel within designated secure areas. You'll play a key part in maintaining a safe, clean and secure environment while delivering excellent customer service and adhering to strict security procedures.
A range of shift patterns are available, including days, evenings and nights, offering flexibility to meet operational requirements and individual preferences.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning Duties
- Carry out daily cleaning tasks as directed by the Line Manager or Supervisor.
- Dust, sweep, polish, mop and vacuum floors, corridors, rooms and other designated areas to a high standard.
- Clean washrooms, welfare facilities, surfaces, windows and high-touch points, responding promptly to spillages when required.
- Empty waste bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Monitor stock levels and replenish cleaning supplies as needed.
- Safely use, handle and store cleaning equipment, materials and chemicals.
- Conduct routine inspections and report defects, hazards, incidents, near misses and maintenance issues.
- Comply with all Health & Safety requirements, including COSHH, PPE, manual handling procedures and fire safety regulations.
- Deliver excellent customer service and contribute to continuous improvement across the contract.
DV STRAP Escort Duties
- Escort authorised contractors, visitors, engineers and other personnel within secure areas.
- Verify and monitor security passes, access permissions and movements around site.
- Ensure all escorted personnel comply with site security protocols and restrictions.
- Remain vigilant and immediately report any security concerns, incidents or breaches.
- Follow all client security procedures, confidentiality requirements and information-handling policies.
- Complete all mandatory escort and security training.
- Maintain DV STRAP clearance throughout employment.

- Is willing to undertake both cleaning and escorting responsibilities as required.
- Can work flexibly across day, evening and night shifts.
Previous experience in cleaning, facilities management, secure environments, access control or escorting is desirable, but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Security Clearance Requirement
Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) STRAP clearance.
Employment is subject to successfully completing the clearance process and complying with all associated security, confidentiality, information-handling and training requirements.
DV Clearance Payments & Allowance
To support colleagues through the vetting process, we offer:
- £1,500 one-off payment upon completion of the required DV clearance paperwork and attendance at the DV interview.
- £1,500 one-off payment upon successfully obtaining DV clearance.
In addition, colleagues who successfully obtain DV clearance and actively work within DV STRAP secure areas will receive a:
- £3,000 annual DV Allowance, paid monthly through payroll (pro-rated for part-time colleagues).
Eligibility for DV Clearance
Candidates will typically need to:
- Have the legal right to work in the UK.
- Be a UK citizen or hold a nationality eligible for UK Developed Vetting clearance.
- Have lived continuously in the UK for the previous 10 years.
- Provide a full 10-year address, employment and education history.
- Successfully complete all stages of the DV vetting process, including questionnaires, background checks and interviews.
- Maintain DV STRAP clearance and notify management of any circumstances that may affect it.
- Be willing to undertake contractor, visitor and personnel escort duties within secure areas.
