Tesco:

Contract: Permanent

Shift Pattern: Varies from day to day but are planned in advance

You will be responsible for
  • Lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams, creating an environment where colleagues can thrive and deliver their best every day.
  • Recruit, coach and develop colleagues and managers, supporting their operational and leadership growth while building a strong talent pipeline for the future.
  • Create a culture where customers are at the heart of everything you do, ensuring great service, availability and standards across the store.
  • Drive sales, trade and profitability by identifying opportunities, making informed decisions and delivering plans that improve performance.
  • Lead from the front, spending time on the shop floor with colleagues and customers, supporting day-to-day operations and delivering an excellent customer experience.
  • Build capability within your team, ensuring colleagues and managers have the skills, knowledge and confidence to succeed in their roles.
  • Lead change effectively, engaging teams through new initiatives and helping them adapt positively in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Ensure the store operates safely, legally and compliantly, creating a safe place to work for colleagues and a great place to shop for customers.
  • Understand local customer needs and competitor activity, using insights to drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to deliver business objectives and create the best outcomes for customers and colleagues.
You will need
  • A passion for retail and leadership, with a strong desire to deliver great results through people.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate and develop colleagues, helping individuals and teams perform at their best.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage, influence and build strong relationships with colleagues, customers and stakeholders.

  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to act quickly and confidently in a fast-paced environment.
  • The resilience and adaptability to lead through change, overcome challenges and maintain momentum during busy trading periods.
  • Commercial awareness, with an understanding of how to maximise sales, improve performance and identify opportunities within your local market.
  • The ability to coach and support others, sharing knowledge, experience and best practice to develop capability across the team.
  • Energy, drive and enthusiasm to go beyond expectations, setting high standards for yourself and those around you.
