About the role Set clear direction for the team. You will turn broad platform goals into clear priorities, a workable roadmap, and a delivery cadence the team can sustain.
Enable the success of the engineers on the team. That means setting clear expectations, coaching regularly, and helping people grow in judgement, scope, and ownership.
Build a strong team environment with clarity and accountability. That includes hiring well, managing performance, and making sure people know what good looks like in the role.
Own the platform's SRE concerns within the team. That includes improving observability, operability, resilience, incident management, performance, and safe delivery through engineering, automation, and better standards.
Make reliability work part of the team's normal delivery model rather than a side stream. You will help the team set operational standards, improve on-call effectiveness, learn from incidents, and follow through on the changes that reduce repeat failure.
Shape how the team designs, builds, and runs the platform, from technical direction and delivery practices through to operational readiness and continuous improvement.
Coach engineers through regular, specific feedback so strong work is repeated and problems are addressed early and clearly.Hold career conversations with the engineers on the team and help them build the skills and experience they need for long-term growth.Work closely with engineers and leaders across Budapest and London to align ownership, ways of working, and platform direction across a distributed team.
Contribute to the longer-term evolution of the platform as the scope broadens beyond traditional API traffic management into newer communication patterns, including AI and agentic traffic. You will be responsible for Lead and develop a team of engineers working on a mission critical traffic management platform,creating clarity on priorities, raising the quality bar, and helping the team grow in technical depth andoperational maturity.
Own delivery for the team, balancing reliability, platform evolution, and the practical needs of productengineering teams using the platform.

Drive a culture of safe change, measurable reliability, and blameless incident management, ensuringthe team treats production as a core part of the engineering problem rather than a downstream concern.Work closely with engineers and leaders across Budapest and London to align roadmap, execution, andoperating model around a shared platform direction.

You will need We are looking for an engineering manager who has led strong engineers in a platform, infrastructure,or reliability-oriented environment and is comfortable operating close to technical detail.
You should bring sound judgement in distributed systems, production operations, and incidentleadership, with the ability to make sensible trade-offs under pressure.
Experience with traffic management, API gateways, service to service communication, or adjacentdistributed infrastructure is highly relevant, but we are not trying to reduce the role to a narrow checklistof tools.
You should be credible with senior engineers, practical in how you drive delivery, and thoughtful in howyou build team culture and operating rhythm.
This role will suit someone who enjoys leading through ambiguity, improving systems through iteration,and taking real responsibility for platform outcomes in production. About us
You will be part of a growing engineering presence in Budapest, working closely with our London-based engineering team.
We default to pairing for high-leverage work such as complex design, production debugging, and incident response, because it improves quality, reduces time to diagnosis, and spreads context across the team.
