Job Description

What you’ll be doing
As a qualified Dispensing Optician, you will be providing a high level of customer care and expert advice to make a real difference to our customers and keep them coming back. You will work in one of our stores, reporting to the Store Manager.

Key responsibilities
• Providing clinical support in store for regulated dispensing
• Inspiring your Optical team by sharing your knowledge to offer the very best service.
• Listening to the needs of customers and offer expertise and advice.
• Helping our customers to choose the correct eyewear and offer guidance to ensure our customers receive the best product suited to their needs.
• Supporting the team to deliver an efficient model day and operational processes to ensure that the business trades legally.
• Providing expert knowledge for patients with more specialist requirements.

What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)
• Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
• Passion for your own learning and development, completing all CPD training as part of the GOC requirement.

We are looking for a passionate Dispensing Optician to join us in our Barnstaple practice!

This position is full time, working 5 days per week, the successful individual would be required to work 2 full weekends per month (Saturday and Sunday) – we are happy to explore alternate weekend working in this role.

This is a busy standalone practice, sitting on the bustling Barnstaple high street – the practice has 3 testing rooms, one of which is shared with HearingCare. Barnstaple is one of the UK’s oldest boroughs, as well as being one of the largest towns in North Devon – it’s home to the historic Pannier Market, which plays host to a range of events and is within walking distance to the Boots Opticians practice!

There is no onsite parking for this store however, there are a number of car parks within easy walking distance to the practice – you are able to purchase permits for these locations. Additionally, the local train station is a short 5 minute walk from the practice!
