At Tesco, our Property team plays a critical role in creating safe, efficient and sustainable environments for our customers and colleagues. As a Controls Assurance Manager, you'll be responsible for assuring the delivery of technical standards across our Building Management Systems (BMS), controls and connectivity solutions.
Working closely with engineering teams, project stakeholders, suppliers and industry partners, you'll ensure that new and existing property assets meet Tesco's controls assurance standards and long-term business needs. You'll use your technical expertise to drive innovation, identify opportunities for continuous improvement and help deliver smarter, simpler and more cost-effective solutions across our estate.

- Partner with engineering teams to ensure all new property assets achieve full connectivity and comply with Tesco's Controls and BMS Assurance Standards.
- Provide technical assurance across controls, BMS and connectivity projects throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Identify opportunities to improve Controls, Connectivity and BMS solutions, delivering better outcomes for customers and colleagues.
- Support the ongoing development of technical standards in line with the Property annual business plan.
- Ensure suppliers and contractors provide project documentation to the highest quality and compliance standards.
- Analyse equipment performance and operation data to identify root causes of issues and develop practical short, medium and long-term solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying ways to simplify solutions, improve reliability and reduce costs.
- Build strong relationships with colleagues, suppliers, manufacturers and industry experts to influence positive outcomes and share best practice.
- Ensure the correct application of technical standards for controls and BMS equipment across projects and operational activities.
- Identify emerging technologies and innovations that keep Tesco at the forefront of controls and building automation solutions.
- Support the development of business cases and trials that contribute to future engineering, sustainability and energy efficiency strategies.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- A detailed understanding of Controls and Building Management Systems, including platforms such as:
- Siemens
- Trend
- Tridium
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and their integration with controls solutions.
- Experience developing controls project designs, specifications and scopes of work.
- A comprehensive understanding of industry standards, legislation and best practice within controls and building automation environments.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety requirements and how these influence engineering specifications and maintainability.
- The ability to evaluate equipment performance, diagnose technical issues and drive effective solutions.
Experience
- Significant technical and operational experience within the controls, BMS or building automation industry.
- Proven experience delivering controls-related projects within commercial environments.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders, suppliers and contractors to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Modern Apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Relevant professional engineering qualifications or industry certifications would be advantageous.
