Class 1 HGV Driver

The role

We are looking for a number of LGV Class 1 Drivers to support our operations based out of South Ockendon, Thurrock, Essex.

Salary & Pay Rates

We offer a total base pay of £20.04 per hour (comprising a basic rate of £18.05/hr plus £1.99/hr London Weighting allowance), giving an equivalent basic salary of c£43,900.

Enhanced All-Inclusive Hourly Rates:

• Standard Weekday Rate (Mon–Fri, 06:00–22:00): £20.04 / hr
• Daytime Saturday Premium (06:00–22:00): £23.04 / hr
• Daytime Sunday Premium (06:00–22:00): £25.04 / hr
• Night Shift (Sun–Thu, 22:00–06:00): £23.04 / hr
• Friday Night Shift (22:00–06:00): £25.04 / hr
• Saturday Night Shift (22:00–06:00): £27.59 / hr (rate valid until 30/09/26)

Overtime Rates:

• Weekly Overtime: £26.05 / hr (1.3x base rate)
• Scheduled Day Off / 6th Shift Rate: £30.06 / hr (1.5x base rate)

Plus participation in our Driver bonus scheme.

Your Role with us:

• You’ll be a part of our critical distribution operation transporting clothing and homeware products to our stores in the South Eastalong with some trunk runs.
• Adopt a ‘Safety First’ mindset where nothing is placed over the safety of yourself, the public or your colleagues.
• We have various shift patterns available so you could be starting between 03:00 and 10:00 on our AM shift or between 10:00 and 17:30 on our PM shift, totaling 42 hours per week minimum, working 5 days out of 7, which includes 2 full weekends in 10 weeks.
• Our rota’s are given 12 months in advance so you plan around this.

What you’ll bring

• Class 1 C+E license holders with a CPC card
• Minimum of 1 year Class 1 HGV driving experience including the coupling and uncoupling of trailers.
• Maximum of 6 points on license and no convictions or disqualifications.

Successful applicants will receive 2 days of training from a Driver Development Coach (DDC) and will be aligned to a Manager to provide any additional support required outside of their training.
