We are looking for an experienced Bar Manager to join our hospitality team at Market Rasen Racecourse for the 2026 and 2027 racing seasons.
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the bar operation on racedays, managing the bar team and ensuring an efficient, professional and high-quality service throughout the event.
We are ideally looking for candidates local to Lincoln / Market Rasen who can commit to the Market Rasen race calendar.
🍸 THE ROLE
As Bar Manager, you will be responsible for the overall running of the bar operation, from pre-event setup through to close-down.
You will lead the bar team, oversee service and stock, and ensure guests receive an excellent experience throughout the raceday.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for the bar operation on each raceday.
- Lead, manage and motivate the bar team.
- Organise staff positions and ensure the bars are appropriately staffed.
- Conduct pre-service briefings and communicate expectations clearly.
- Ensure bars are fully stocked, correctly set up and ready for service.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment.
- Oversee the service of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Manage queues and maintain efficient service during busy periods.
- Deliver excellent customer service and deal confidently with guest queries or complaints.
- Oversee cash handling, tills/POS systems and end-of-day procedures.
- Ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with licensing requirements.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation.
- Liaise with FOH, BOH and event management teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor team performance and address any issues promptly.
- Ensure all venue, health & safety and operational procedures are followed.
- Complete bar close-down and ensure stock, equipment and bar areas are secure.
⭐ Required Experience & Skills
- Proven Bar Management experience – ESSENTIAL
- Previous experience in a stadium, racecourse, large-scale events or similar hospitality environment – ESSENTIAL
- Experience managing a busy bar operation with high customer volumes.
- Previous experience leading and supervising a bar team.
- Strong knowledge of bar operations, service standards and stock control.
- Experience with cash handling, tills and POS systems.
- Good understanding of responsible alcohol service and licensing requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication and people-management skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
- Professional, confident and hands-on approach.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a wider hospitality team.
⚠️ COMMITMENT REQUIRED
This is a casual, raceday-only position.
Applicants must be able to commit to working Market Rasen Race Days throughout the 2026 and 2027 racing seasons.
There are no guaranteed hours, with shifts based around the race calendar and operational requirements.
