A new survey taken by Cap Gemini’s Digital Transformation Institute, suggests that a growing number of consumers are becoming increasingly disconnected with the physical store experience. The survey, which included countries such as UK, US, China, Germany and Sweden, showed that only 45% of consumers regarded the physical store as an important feature. This was juxtaposed with 81% of retail executives deeming it important, showing a disconnect between executives and their consumers.  Dissatisfaction with the experience was highest in Spain and Sweden, whereas consumers in China and the US reported lower levels. 71% of consumers surveyed, stated that they would consider forgoing traditional retailers altogether in favour of buying directly from the manufacturers or technology sellers such as Google.
