British Bakers, Greggs, have begun to roll-out plans for a delivery service, which is starting with a trial in London’s financial district. The traders and bankers in close proximity to their branches in the city of London will now be able to order pasties and sausage rolls to their desks. The company has set a minimum spend of £20 for an order to be eligible for delivery, with plans to further expand the service across more locations in the future. Chief executive of Greggs, Roger Whiteside, suggested that the company was in fact “late to the party” with regards to deliveries, especially with the rise of services such as Uber Eats and Deliveroo. This follows the news that the company had announced a 4.2% rise in like-for-like sales, and total sales being up by 7%.
